The slot uses an interesting concept, and we find that there is a mix of both new and old features. For example, the developer has gone with older graphics, but more modern features.

Eye of Horus is a sequel for a game that was developed by Merkur, one of Blueprint’s sister company.

This is a great slot for players who love originality but are looking for a new challenge. I had the opportunity to play Eye of Horus Megaways, and here is my review:

Game Set-Up

For Eye of Horus Megaways, we get the usual set up of 6 reels setup and a maximum of 5 symbols per column.

A single spin has the ability to generate as many as 15,625 ways to win.

Among is major symbols are free spins, symbol upgrades, expanding wilds.

Betting and Prizes

Blueprint has used a limit on this slot, and this is a common occurrence on most slots with high volatility and massive potential.

To get the reels spinning, you will need at least $0.10 per spin, while the highest amount that you can use is $10 per single spin.

With top payouts getting to 10,000 xs, Eye of Horus Megaways has the potential to deliver as much as $100,000 in wins.

Being a medium to high volatility game, its RTP of 95.02% does not seem to work well.

Eye of Horus Megaways Slot Features

With the Megaways system, you will most likely work with 2 to 5 symbols per reel. The slot has a total of 6 reels, which could see the total Megaways get to as many as15,625.

Cascading reels are another feature that Eye of Horus uses. With it, you will be able to remove the winning symbols and replace them with new ones. This has the potential to bring along additional wins.

Horus Wilds are here as the wilds feature, and they are able to expand and cover the entire reel. This will give way to 5 wild symbols, which means a full size, and one that has the ability to contribute to the maximum number of Megaways.

Temple Door scatters are the other feature on Eye of Horus. It is the feature that will deliver free spins, and this means up to 12 free games.

Theme & Design

Eye of Horus Megaways uses an Ancient Egypt theme, which is already too common with modern slots

The slot relies on old fashioned graphics, which makes it's quality quite poor.

For the symbols, Blueprint has used the Wild (Horus), scatters (Temple Door) and hieroglyphs/drawings that showcase some Eagles, the Ankh, Lotus Flowers, Jackals, and Scarabs. Royals are present as well, and they represent the low-value symbols.

Conclusion

Eye of Horus Megaways offers what appears to be a modern version of Merkur’s slot.

However, the slot does not do well with its graphics, and neither does its RTP help things much.

From my own experience, I can say that this slot is more ideal for casual players.

Eye of Horus Megaways Symbols/Theme

Eye of Horus Megaways is 1 of simpler-looking Megaways slots out there – with an ancient Egyptian theme, the all-seeing eye returns as it’s inspired by the original Eye of Horus game (made by Merkur Gaming and Blueprint Gaming). With cartoon style graphics and predominantly brown in colour, the graphics have a land-based slot machine feel which is true to the original game.

Symbols on the reels include A, K, Q and J royals as well as birds, ankh keys, flowers, scarab beetles and jackals. The most rewarding symbol is the Eye of Horus naturally with 6 in combination paying 20 times your total stake.

Expanding Horus wild

The Horus symbol is the wild – he substitutes for all symbols (bar the scatter of course). The wild only appears on reels 2, 3, 4 and 5 (not reels 1 and 6). More importantly, the Expanding Wilds feature is triggered so the Horus wild symbol becomes a Horus wild reel. This can lead to plenty of wild reels on each spin.

With 6 reels on display, each reel can contain up to 5 symbols each. If all reels display 5 symbols, you’ll benefit from the maximum 15,625 Megaways (i.e. 5 x 5 x 5 x 5 x 5 x 5 = 15,625). Winning combinations are formed by getting 3 or more matching symbols on successive reels beginning from reel 1 – i.e. getting the Eye of Horus symbol on reels 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5.

Free Spins feature

The main attraction in the Eye of Horus Megaways slot is the Free Spins feature – this is played when you get 3 or more pyramid scatter symbols anywhere on the reels. 3, 4, 5 or 6 scatters will give you a payout of 2, 20, 50 or 100 times your stake respectively.

Once in the feature, you will begin with 12 free spins. The expanding Horus wild is in place (like in the base game) but it comes with an extra magical property – each time the wild lands, it expands. Horus will then fire a laser beam at the symbols displayed above the reels – this in turn upgrades the symbol to the next high paying symbol in the paytable.

If you get multiple upgrades, you’ll be playing your free spins with the highest value symbols only which can result in much bigger payouts. This is known as the Upgrading Symbols feature.

Finally, the Horus wild also rewards you with additional free spins – 1, 2 or 3 wilds will result in 1, 3 or 5 extra free spins.

Eye of Horus Megaways thoughts

The Eye of Horus Megaways game is relatively simple for a Megaways title – it does keep true to its origins which is what Blueprint Gaming intended to do. Medium to high variance, it has an RTP of 95.49% and offers 10,000 x stake payouts on each free spin.

Graphically it’s not much to look at but I would recommend you try it if you want a simple introduction to the Megaways phenomenon. If you want to play the best Megaways slot, there’s no better game than Bonanza Megaways though as this is what put Megaways and Big Time Gaming (the creators) on the map.
